Everything You Need to Know About UAE Gratuity & Visa Fines
About UAE Gratuity (MOHRE Rules)
The "End of Service Gratuity" is a monetary benefit mandated by the UAE Labor Law for foreign employees. It acts as a thank-you for your service. Under the 2025 regulations, almost all employment contracts are classified as "Limited Contracts".
- Eligibility: You must complete at least 1 year of continuous service.
- Under 5 Years: Calculated as 21 days of basic salary for every year.
- Over 5 Years: Calculated as 30 days of basic salary for each additional year.
Note: The total gratuity cannot exceed the equivalent of two years' total salary.
Understanding Visa Fines (ICP & GDRFA)
Staying in the UAE after your visa expiration date leads to Dubai overstay penalties. The Federal Authority (ICP) has standardized these fines to simplify the process.
The Current Standard Fine: 50 AED per day
This applies to tourists, visit visa holders, and residents after their grace period ends.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is daily wage calculated for gratuity?
Your daily wage is your Basic Salary divided by 30. Allowances (housing, transport, utilities) are NOT included in this calculation.
Does unpaid leave affect my gratuity?
Yes. According to MOHRE gratuity rules, any days of unpaid leave (absence without pay) are deducted from your total service period before the calculation is made.
How can I pay my visa fines in Dubai?
Fines can be paid at Amer centers, typing centers, or online via the ICP or GDRFA websites and apps. It is best to clear fines before arriving at the airport to avoid delays.
Is this calculator updated for 2025 rules?
Yes, our tool uses the latest standard of 50 AED/day for fines and the 21/30 day split for gratuity, aligning with current UAE regulations.
